About: Brehmers’ U-pick is run by Gene Brehmer and was also run by his mother, Viola Brehmer, until her passing in November 2009. Fondy’s longest-running vendor, Mrs. Brehmer had just finished her 76th year at the market. At the young age of 16, Mrs. Brehmer began driving to the market, then the old Center Street Hay Market at 29th and Center, from her family’s farm in the old Town of Granville. Dedicated to and passionate about her craft, Mrs. Brehmer will be missed by her customers and Fondy staff. This season Mr. Brehmer continues the tradition begun by his mother, who will be remembered in the plants, strawberries, potatoes, pumpkins and other produce he brings each Saturday. He is assisted in his farm enterprise by his wife and four adult children.

Specialties: a variety of annual fruits and vegetables, featuring strawberries, kohlrabi, potatoes, and pumpkins. Mr. Brehmer also brings starter plants and flowers to Fondy.

Currency Accepted: cash, Food Stamps/SNAP, WIC and Senior Farmers’ Market Nutrition Program (FMNP) vouchers
