4th Annual Greens Throw-down This Saturday!

Fondy Farmers Market is hosting its 4th Annual Greens Throw-down this Saturday, July 23rd. If you're serious about greens, you know that Fondy farmers grow more than 23 varieties and Milwaukeeans of every culture and ethnicity come from all over the city to buy them. This cooking contest celebrates Fondy's number one seller and most beloved vegetable. For a sneak peek, view footage from the 2nd Annual Greens Throw-down.

Contestants will purchase the freshest greens money can buy at Fondy, and then prepare them on-site from 8am - 11am at Fondy Farmers Market. First place prize is $150 and the One-of-a-Kind Blue Ribbon Apron; second place prize is $100 and the One-of-a-Kind Runner-up Apron. Stop by to catch a glimpse of the competition and learn from some of Milwaukee's best greens cooks.

Taste the Season: Jamaican Style Cabbage
Taste the Season takes place Saturdays, 9am - noon
Sample mouth-watering Jamaican style sauteed cabbage and watch as Guest Chef Dwight Jackson of Pepper Pot Catering teaches how to make this authentic Jamaican dish using Fondy produce.

Youth Booth: Food Mad Libs
Youth Booth takes place Saturdays, 9am - noon
Ever wondered how your food gets from farm to market? Kids, stop by the Youth Booth this Saturday to learn about your local food system by playing the wacky word game Mad Libs.

Aw, Shucks - Sweet Corn's In!

Farmer Bob Craig of Craigland Farms is bringing his first sweet corn harvest to the market this Saturday. Supply is limited, so get to Fondy early!

Third Annual Breastfeeding Awareness Walk Comes to Fondy on Saturday, August 6th

Celebrate World Breastfeeding Week on Saturday, August 6th. Join the Milwaukee County Breastfeeding Coalition's 3rd annual Breastfeeding Awareness Walk to promote, protect and support breastfeeding - baby's first slow food. 

The 1.8 mile walk begins at Aurora Sinai at 9am, stops at Alice's Garden, and culminates at Fondy Farmers Market, where there will be local food samples and refreshments, children's activities, guest speakers, a free t-shirt and reusable bag, and the opportunity to browse and purchase fresh, affordable, locally grown produce. 

The walk is free and open to the public. Register online or in person the day of the walk at 8am. Walk begins at 9am at Aurora Sinai Medical Center's Milwaukee Heart Institute, 960 N. 12th Street. There is a free bus shuttle after the walk.
